Medal of Honor Inductions into the Gallery of Heroes

Staff Sergeant Edward N. Kaneshiro and Specialist Five Dennis M. Fujii were awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for acts of valor in Vietnam and are currently featured in the museum’s Distinguished Service Cross Exhibit within Gallery of Heroes.  In 2020, the Secretary of the Army recommended both men to be upgraded to the Medal of Honor and the presentation of the Medals of Honor occurred on 5 July 2022, with President Joe Biden presenting the award to Dennis Fujii and to John Kaneshiro, the son of Edward Kaneshiro who was awarded the medal posthumously.
